A shower replacement is one of the best ways to upgrade your bathroom without having to spend insane amounts of money for a total remodel. That said, not all shower replacements are the same, and we are frequently asked how much they cost. There is not a single, fixed price for a shower replacement. The total cost will depend on several factors, so allow us a minute to explain those factors and how they will impact the cost of your remodel.
Materials Drive Costs
The biggest variable in remodeling costs is always the materials. Material prices go up and down over time, and you have so many options that there is no way to give you a meaningful estimate until after you pick your materials.
As an idea, you can get prefabricated showers that have a fixed price. We have partnerships with Tyvarian and BCI that can get you a good deal on prefabricated showers to save you money. If you want special tiling or anything in addition to the shower, it will add to the price.
There’s also the option of having a custom shower. We do custom work all the time, but we can’t give you a flat price for that kind of work. Instead, the best bet is for us to come and see your bathroom and discuss options with you. Depending on what you want, we can help you meet a target price range and still get a shower that you love.
Some Remodels Require More Work
Labor is another cost when you get a shower replacement, and not all replacements require the same amount of work. Even if we’re installing a prefabricated shower, the amount of work it takes will depend on the design and condition of your bathroom before we get started.
That said, once we have a chance to see the bathroom, we can give you clear estimates as to how much labor the job should require. The vast majority of shower replacements can be done in a single weekend. That allows our labor estimates to be fairly accurate.
Sometimes during demolition, we find underlying problems that need to be addressed. We’ll never surprise you with the bill after the fact. Instead, if we see a problem, we’ll discuss it and explain the viable solutions so you can make a decision.
Some of the common problems that arise are interior rot, leaks or other plumbing issues. Any one of these can create the need for additional repairs and work that we did not anticipate. There are countless such items that can come up once we’re in the guys of your bathroom. What you can trust is that we will keep you informed so that you can make decisions on how you want to proceed.
As you can see, there’s a lot of variability to consider. The best way to anticipate the cost of a shower replacement is to call us. We’ll discuss what you want, and we’ll come to your place to look at the bathroom. We can make professional suggestions and come to understand your ideas. Once there’s a clear picture of what you want, we can give you a detailed estimate.
